Wow, why didn't someone think of this sooner?

This stuff looks awesome! Has anyone here purchased some from these guys? Custom made foam to fit popular case sizes? Nice!
I've added their site to the "Killer Links" section. They can make foam to transport a Forge World Titan- I think that makes them a killer link! ;)

Shazli M. Wins Wild Card Tournament
After a day of close games and tough battles, Shazli managed to come out on top and earn his way into the League Championships. We are still determining when they will be held, and as soon as we can confirm we'll let you all know.
In the meantime, click here to view the complete stats of the Wild Card tournament. Remember that Sportsmanship and Appearance scores are the final averages from the regular season.

Who Shall Win the Marksman's Honour?
Well folks, it'll be one of these league die-hards:
Faizal S.
Khairul A.
Shazli M.
Khairul E.
Nazrin M.
Iqbal
Arzmi D.
Johan R.
Tay J.
Now, as a couple of you have mentioned, there are an odd number of competitors. My oh my, what shall we do...?
Well, we're going to use a "bottom bye" system. Assuming everyone shows up, the player with the worst regular season record will get a bye in the first round. All byes will be worth a 15 pt win. In subsequent rounds, the player with the worst overall standing will get the bye. With so few players in this tournament, I'm guessing that the overall winner of this tournament is going to need to win all three games. This means that players in Rounds 2 and 3 who get the bye are unlikely to win the tournament- if things go normally. If there are a lot of ties, who knows? Despite the drawbacks, this system is a good one for tournaments that involve a relatively low number of players. Therefore, assuming everyone shows up on time Saturday, here are the Round 1 matchups...
Faizal S. vs Johan R.
Khairul A. vs Arzmi D.
Shazli M. vs Iqbal
Khairul E. vs Nazrin M.
BYE- Tay J.
Subsequent rounds shall be seeded according to our standard swiss tournament system- winners against winners, losers against losers. Scoring will be done just like the league, except no bonus point will be added for fully painted armies. All other bonuses/penalties apply to your scores. No Sportsmanship or Appearance will be taken in this tournament. Once we get your battle points from all three games, I'll add your league averages in Sportsmanship and Appearance from the regular season to get an Overall Score. This is the score that will win (or lose) you the Marksman's Honour.
Everyone needs to get to the factory by 0945 at the latest. If you are late, and we have an even numbers of players... let's just say your tournament experience may have ended before it started! :) Tay, this means you need to show up early in case we have a no show, and you actually end up playing in the first round. If not, I suggest bringing a book or some models to paint! That goes for the rest of you- bring something to entertain yourselves if you end up being one of the people that gets a bye.
So, that's about it. If anyone has any questions or concerns, by all means drop me a line and we'll see what can be done. Once we determine the Wild Card winner, I'll contact all 4 League Champion finalists to determine whether we're running the championships on the 4th or the 11th. I've already heard that some can't make the 4th, so hopefully all four of you can make the 11th. I have one other possible option that will work with league guidelines, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, as they say.
Don't forget folks that there will be no Hobby Night tomorrow. Hobby Night will resume on April 3rd...

Bagration Campaign Postponed
I hate to do it, but unfortunately that's going to be our only option for the Flames of War campaign. I've only just gotten the materials to run this, and we've had multiple potential players say they can't make it this Friday. We'll take a look at the schedule next week, and see what other options will work best for this. We'll also postpone the Season 1 FoW League awards ceremony until such time as we can get more people involved. Once we know what we're going to do, we'll post it up straight away.
The tournament is still on, though! So, I'll see you all who signed up Saturday morning for some tournament fun. Sorry for the inconvenience on the campaign, but "them's the breaks" as they say...
Cheers
Jeff

League coming to a close, and a new range you haven't heard of...
Well Legionnaires, the Second Season of the Legio Malaysia Warhammer 40,000 league is coming to a close. Lots of games have been played, armies finished, and dice chucked to reach the end. We've also got some news for historical fans, but first let's review the league's current status:
Players have until the end of Hobby Night this Friday to complete their league matches. Only Syamael, Jeff, and Kadir have failed to reach six games up to this point. Get those games in!
According to Legio's records, Khairul A. and Arzmi have completed their minimum six games (or more), but do not have fully painted armies. You all have until the end of Hobby Night to show either Jeff or Azlan your completely painted armies. If you fail to do so, you will not be invited to participate in the Wild Card Tournament. Speaking of...
The Wild Card Tournament is being held at Battlefront Miniatures on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 AM. This date has been set since we posted the league rules, so we will NOT be changing the date to another time. We apologize if this date doesn't work for you, but we have given everyone two months notice. If you have played at least six games and have a fully painted army (i.e. your stat line is green), please RSVP for the Wild Card Tournament by emailing Legio Malaysia or let us know at the upcoming Hobby Night. All players must RSVP no later than Wednesday, March 25th.
The League Championships will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 10:00 AM. If all four players are unable to make it on this date, we will reschedule for a week later. If all four players are unable to make that one, we will revert to the April 4th date. Anyone who fails to show up by 10:00 AM for the League Championships will automatically forfeit their match. We will determine League Championship seeding after the Wild Card Tournament. All invitees will be emailed and SMSed in an attempt to confirm attendance.
So, that's a wrap for Season 2. We invite comments concerning the scheduling and details of Season 2- feel free to email Legio Malaysia with your suggestions. The league will continue to evolve and hopefully grow. Congrats to all who have been able to participate thus far.
Now, on to a completely different genre- English Civil War!
Hot off the presses of Warlord Games comes a completely new range of miniatures for this very cool and interesting period. They are doing a full, multi part plastics range that looks very impressive, and it's all set to launch at the end of this month. If you're an historical miniatures fan, especially of the ECW, be sure to click on the image above and check out Warlord Games!
That's all for today, folks. Cheers!

The New Wargames Illustrated
In case you haven't heard, Wargames Illustrated is getting a makeover! From issue 260 and onwards, the magazine is going to have a lot more content and hobby goodness that people have come to expect from this fine publication. If you've read WI before, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, or (gasp!), you've never heard of it, you need to get this issue. In addition to all the extra content, issue 260 will include a brand new sprue of the Perry Twins' British Napoleonics! The figures look fantastic, but don't take my word for it. Click on the link below to learn more about the direction WI is taking...

Warmachine Plastics....?
Yes indeed, for those who haven't already seen, Privateer Press is set to release their first ever plastics release with a five model squad of Exemplar Bastions. The miniatures look fantastic, and I'm sure our small group of Legionnaire Warmachine enthusiasts are looking forward to seeing the sprues first hand.
For more information and a 360 degree view of the models, click on the Privateer Press link in our Killer Hobby Links section!
Now, one of these day I need to paint my Cryx! ;)

That Was a Fantastic Hobby Night!
That was one amazing Hobby Night! We're in week 4 of 40k League Season 2, and there was a lot of 40k action going on. I personally put in 2 games myself, and I saw some hard-fought battles involving Daemons, Blood Angels, the 74th Blue Frosting IG Rgt, two Raven Guard armies, a couple of Chaos armies, Orkses, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Space Marines ... there was even non-league 40k action going on.
We also had a Heavy Gear demo game going on. I did not manage to catch that, but it looked cool (especially since the models are in 15mm, and we do have an abundance of15mm terrain). Saleem, maybe you can fill in some details here.
Over in the hobby corner, Jeff finished his Forgeworld-festooned Salamanders Razorback - all in one sitting ... that's some quick work.
Significantly, we had our much much delayed club meeting ... and it was really good to see the core group of Legionnaires together. We caught up on Legio news and direction, and everyone looked psyched for Spore 2009!
See you guys next Friday!

Battlefront Miniatures wants to give YOU some free stuff!
That's right, this is an official "swag alert" for all Legionnaires and other hobbyists who visit Legio Malaysia. In case you don't check the Flames of War website often, they have just posted a survey that they would like people to fill out. The questions in it are about things like what wargames you play, how many armies you have, whether you read hobby magazines, etc.
Just a couple minutes of your time could get you a prize, and the top prize is a complete 2000 point army of YOUR CHOICE, painted by the Battlefront STUDIO. All of the winners are being chosen randomly amongst those who fill out the online survey. Interested?
Click here and check it out for yourself. Be sure to log in and follow the simple instructions. Who knows, maybe you'll end up with some freebies!

Legio News Update
Well folks, we have a few bits of news to get across to the membership, so let's get to it!
First, we want to make sure everyone remembers that there WILL be a full Legio club meeting this evening. We have a couple of issues we need to tackle, and we have some announcements for future event plans that should get even the most jaded hobbyist excited. If you're interested in helping us build a wargaming community together, we strongly urge you to attend tonight's meeting at 9 PM.
Next, our astropathic choir has just received a priority message from the next sub-sector- Singapore! The good folks at Paradigm Infinitum have officially announced the dates for the next SPORE convention. SPORE 2009 will take place on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th, at the Singapore Polytechnic. Details are a bit scarce right now, but we do know there are some fantastic wargaming events planned.
On Saturday, they will be running a D-Day beach landing scenario for Flames of War. If you're an FoW fan, you should definitely pencil this into your hobby calendar. On Sunday they'll also have tables set aside for open Flames of War gaming. A whole weekend of WWII!
However, that's not all. On Saturday, there will be a Warhammer 40,000 tournament. We don't have any more details, like costs or points, but we will keep you all posted as we learn more.
On Sunday, they will also run a Warhammer tournament. Same deal- we don't have the full scoop on this yet, but once we get more news we'll pass it along.
Just like last year, Legio Malaysia will be sponsoring a Malaysian tournament team for both the 40K and WFB tournaments. There will be some prerequisites to join this team, but team members will enjoy some groovy tshirts and as yet-undetermined benefits. We'll briefly discuss this at tonight's meeting.
Finally, we want to remind everyone that we have a few spots left open for the Flames of War tournament on Saturday, March 21st. If you're interested, be sure to click on the banner at the top of the page and get registered!
That's about it this time around, Legionnaires. See you tonight!

Congrats to Jason- Flames of War League Champion!
This past week four brave souls battled it out to determine who would become Legio Malaysia's first Flames of War league champion, and Jason prevailed! Beating Nick in the first round, and then Edwin in the final game, Jason led his Americans to victory in two close games. Well done!
Join us on Hobby Night, March 20th, as we hand out awards for the Flames of War Season 1 league, AND we launch our Firestorm: Bagration campaign. It's a must attend night for all Flames of War fans! Free drinks and snacks will be supplied as well, so be sure to pencil in that date.
Cheers!
