Legio Army Throwdown II (Warhammer Fantasy) Results

When we started this painting event in November last year, we had 17 sign ups. Fast forward to last Friday night and we were only left with 4 brave souls who managed to complete their 2K fantasy army.

For this effort alone all four deserves a huge pat on the back for having the guts to grind it out when others faltered along the way. They are in no particular order...
Patrick's High Elves
Iqbal's Warriors of Chaos
Stephane's Dark Elves
Jeff's Beastmen
Well done again guys. Four nicely painted armies that anyone would be proud to have in their collection.

Of course in any competition there can be only one winner. And after voting was done, Jeff Brooks with his Beastmen came out on top to be the clear winner! And the proud owner of another Legio Malaysia Purity Seal.
Mighty cheers for Patrick, Jeff, Iqbal and Stephane!!!
The hensem four who made it.
Jeff and Patrick were also the only two who managed to go 8 for 8 in all the individual throwdowns. Kudos to both of you.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the event. Special mention too to those who turned up to vote and cheered the participants on. We couldn't have done it without your support!

Our next Army Throwdown event will be announced soon so keep your ears out for news on that.

It's Hobby Time Again!

It's that time of the week again when glorious, Legio Malaysia hobby is knocking at the door. In addition to standard gaming and hobby action, tomorrow night's Hobby Night will also feature the third painting challenge and vote of the Legio Army Throwdown II: Warhammer Army Painting Challenge.

For this throwdown participants are required to bring their fully painted Army General. Out of all 8 throwdown challenges, this one is by far the easiest as you only need one model! Attendance tomorrow night should be at 100%- if you have signed up and don't make this one, you're nuts!

In particular, we strongly urge the following people to show up tomorrow night. Everyone on this list has failed to make even one entry thus far, despite painting having started way back on October 8th! If you find your name on this list, you really need to get to Hobby Night tomorrow with your painted Army General!

Hafizhu Rodzali
Jo Tan
Stephane Porquier
Dann Toh
Faizal Azlan
Rizal Abdullah
Ken Khang

If you guys miss this one, you'll have to make 4 out of the final 5 challenges to qualify for the finals. We'd hate to see you guys miss out, so please come!

For the rest of our intrepid competitors, who's going to win tomorrow's vote? Last throwdown was won by Arzmi Bakar and his gorgeous Empire Pistoliers. Who's next....?

So come on down for some great hobby! For those not in the challenge, don't forget to come check it out and cast your vote for your favorite Army General entry.

See you there!

Legio News Update

Well folks, we have a few bits of news to get across to the membership, so let's get to it!

First, we want to make sure everyone remembers that there WILL be a full Legio club meeting this evening. We have a couple of issues we need to tackle, and we have some announcements for future event plans that should get even the most jaded hobbyist excited. If you're interested in helping us build a wargaming community together, we strongly urge you to attend tonight's meeting at 9 PM.

Next, our astropathic choir has just received a priority message from the next sub-sector- Singapore! The good folks at Paradigm Infinitum have officially announced the dates for the next SPORE convention. SPORE 2009 will take place on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th, at the Singapore Polytechnic. Details are a bit scarce right now, but we do know there are some fantastic wargaming events planned.

On Saturday, they will be running a D-Day beach landing scenario for Flames of War. If you're an FoW fan, you should definitely pencil this into your hobby calendar. On Sunday they'll also have tables set aside for open Flames of War gaming. A whole weekend of WWII!

However, that's not all. On Saturday, there will be a Warhammer 40,000 tournament. We don't have any more details, like costs or points, but we will keep you all posted as we learn more.

On Sunday, they will also run a Warhammer tournament. Same deal- we don't have the full scoop on this yet, but once we get more news we'll pass it along.

Just like last year, Legio Malaysia will be sponsoring a Malaysian tournament team for both the 40K and WFB tournaments. There will be some prerequisites to join this team, but team members will enjoy some groovy tshirts and as yet-undetermined benefits. We'll briefly discuss this at tonight's meeting.

Finally, we want to remind everyone that we have a few spots left open for the Flames of War tournament on Saturday, March 21st. If you're interested, be sure to click on the banner at the top of the page and get registered!

That's about it this time around, Legionnaires. See you tonight!

Black Coach + Hobby Night = Good Times

Howdy folks!

For those of you who missed it, we had a fantastic hobby night Friday with excellent turnout and lots of gaming to be had. We also held our 2nd club meeting, and worked out a bunch of cool stuff including some hobby teams and what we're going for our July 26th main event. Stay tuned for details on what "Iron Painter" is all about. For now, all I'll say is that the Iron Painter competition is an AWESOME way to get that pesky army completed that you never seem to find time to paint...

I played my first Warhammer game in Malaysia against Iz, and we had a blast. Not only was it my first Warhammer game here, it was also my first game using the new version of the Vampire Counts army book. I really liked the new Black Coach rules, and the Varghulf (Otto von Carstein in my army) was also a great addition. I've ordered more Wraiths so I can field the new skirmishing unit in the book. Good stuff, and a great game. Iz's Orcs and Goblins list was a fun army to play against, and only some luck with the Giant prevented the Vampires from a potential defeat. Thanks Iz!

Fear not aspiring members...

The new batch of dice have already arrived from the US, a stunning six days after I ordered them! So, if you're interested in becoming a lvl 2 or 3 member, we have the dice you're looking for!

For existing 2 & 3 members, we really need your shirt sizes, please. If you haven't given them to us please do so ASAP. We are ready to order the first t shirts, but we can't do it until we know what size you are.

On a personal note, I've brought my Vampire Counts army to the factory, and I'd love to get a game in on hobby night. It's fully painted, and I've even added a new Varghulf to the mix as of last Friday. It's been a while since I played, so be gentle! ;)

Cheers!
