RSVP for Hobby Night & Fantasy Army Throwdown
First up, we'd like to announce that Legio Malaysia have shifted from Battlefront Miniatures' office to the new Hobby Forge. Due to space constraints that we were and are still currently facing at the factory, we knew that we needed to shift Legio to a new location. This location had to be spacious enough for us to hold our regular Hobby Nights, events & tournaments and more importantly allow our tables to be laid out at all times thus protecting them from damages.
We're sure all of you will agree that the new Hobby Forge fits all these requirements and more. So please join us in thanking Alvin Khaw, the owner of Hobby Forge for kindly allowing us to shift Legio Malaysia's base there. Thank you dude.
Secondly, our Fantasy Army Throwdown : Core unit will be held tomorrow during Hobby Night. For everyone who have joined us in this painting madness, you will need to bring your completed Core unit. All entries must be displayed by 9pm. Those who bring their entries late at 9.01pm onward will not be eligible for voting so please come early.
Voting will start from 9-10pm and is open to everyone who comes for Hobby Night. So even if you're not taking part, we'd appreciate if you can come to support and vote :)
Just in case you missed the first part of this post, the Throwdown will be held at Hobby Forge. Do not go to Battlefront Miniatures tomorrow night! Only zombies and ghouls will be there.
Thirdly, our annual year end event will be held on Saturday, 14th of December. Wrath of the Ommissiah will a 1850 points Warhammer 40K tournament. The rulespack is already out. Just click on the banner above for details. We are having 20 participants for the event so please sign up quickly to confirm your entry. Be prepared for devastating steel rain from above!!! You cannot hide....
Fourthly, our Iron Painter event will be held next Saturday until Sunday. Again please click on the banner above for more details. No limit for participants so come join us :)
Lastly, since we're now based at Hobby Forge, you don't really need to RSVP here for your attendance but we'd like to keep the tradition alive.
We've been based at Battlefront for 6 long years....Ave Legio!!!
Wow, that was a long post. RSVP here if you're coming.

Kill Team: Final Mission Recap
And so last Friday saw the final games of the Kill Team Campaign. The
last mission had three objectives, assassinate the Tech Priest Dr Hix before he
escaped the base, capture the Bio Priest Dr Luther and prevent a group of
missiles from being fired from the base. They had an engineer with them to stop
the missile countdown and also had to deal with the IG guards on the base. Four
teams were there to play, Azlan – Mad Donna, Faizal – Space Wolves, Subhan -
Demons and Shukor - Black Templers.
First up was the Space Wolves, who had recovered from the bad luck they had last week and charged into the base. They were we aware of what Dr Luther could do, so they made sure that he was a priority and took him down the first chance they had. They also stopped the missile countdown successfully. But unfortunately they weren't quick enough to stop Dr Hix jumping in a transport and getting away. Two objectives done and one failed.
Next Mad Donna took up the roll of attacked. Learning from the strategy that the Space Wolves took, she sent a large squad with the engineer to stop the missile countdown and with some many body guards he had no problem stopping the missiles. After Mad Donna’s girls had taken Dr Luther down, Mad Donna herself personally wanted to deal with Dr Hix. Unfortunately she got a plasma pistol in the face for her troubles and Dr Hix escaped. Two objectives done and one failed.
Meanwhile over on the other table the Demons were just starting their attack. This looked like it was going to be a quick game with so many demons running around. First they wrecked the vehicles so that Dr Hix couldn't use the vehicles to escape. Then chased him around the board until they cornered him and cut him down. Then they took out Dr Luther. Finally they stopped the missile countdown – but the poor engineer must have been terrified being surrounded by all the Demons. All three objectives complete and full points!
And last to go was the brave Black Templers. The Templers had a small team of men, so they were going to find it difficult to take on all three objectives. They concentrated their effort on Dr Hix first and escorting the engineer to the missiles. They were well aware of how devastating Dr Luther could be, but they focused on Dr Hix first. Unfortunately for them he made it to a vehicle and although they fired everything they could at him they just had no luck hitting him and he escaped. So, they took their frustration out on Dr Luther and beat him to a pulp! They also managed to stop the missiles from being launched. Two objectives and one failed.
Subhan 123pts
Faizal 75pts
Shukor 45pts
Hass 40pts
Azlan 30pts
Nahri 20pts
Jeff 15pts
Congratulations to Subhan who played all 4 weeks and all 5 missions.

Kill Team Campaign: Week 3 Recap
What a night!! Friday must have been the best kill team game so far.
There was three simple objectives, number 1) kill or capture the second
Witch 2) kill the Lurker in the Dark and 3) kill the opposing team leader.
Simple right!
The players were Shukor with his Black Templars, Faizal with his Space
Wolves, and Subhan playing the Witch and a character called Dr Luther.
Now before I proceed I should let you know that the second Witch turned
out to be a Dreadnaught with the tortured soul of a Long Fang trapped inside,
armed with two Hurricane bolters and because he was a Long Fang, the ability to
Split Fire with those bolters…nasty. And Dr Darious Luther a bio chemist that
has been working with Dr Hix on some crazy military experiments, and Dr Luther
had already been experimenting on his own body (he could move 8 inches!!). All
Subhan needed to do with Dr Luther was keep him out of trouble… basically run
and hide – simply right? Shukor did have one extra mission, because he missed mission
3, so he could attempt to rescue the prisoner from game 3.
So, the Space Wolves went first, splitting into two teams with the bulk
going for the Dreadnaught and Faizal Stormwolf and his buddy hunting down Dr
Luther. Shukor went second and decided that it would be best to rescue his team
mate first. The Space Wolves team confidently armed with their Dreadnaught
killing equipment - a meltgun and power fist - tactically crept up on the
Dreadnaught, at one point even using an injured Space Wolf with a head injury
from the last game called Harkon as a human shield. The dreadnaught did a lot
of shuffling around before unleashing a hail of fire, eventually cutting down
the marine with the meltagun. One threat down. But the brave marines jumped
into close combat with the Dreadnaught, only to have the marine with the
powerfist stomped into the ground!!! Two threats down - Disaster!! All looked
lost for the Space Wolves, leaving just Harkon the Human Shield and Frode to
fight the Dreadnaught with Krak Grenades.
Meanwhile the Black Templars swiftly moved up to the jail and with no
opposition released the prisoner. Then they started looking for some trouble!
The Wolves were panicking over by the Dreadnaught, so the Templers decided to
go and find Dr Luther. He can’t have gone far.
Dr Luther was doing what he was supposed to do, hiding. But he was also
caught between the 2 man wolves pack and the large Templers squad. The Wolves
tried to melta and their way through the walls to get to him (but missed!) then
tried throwing grenades at Dr Luther…. (but missed again). What was happening
to the wolves!!
Taking the opportunity to get away from the Wolves, Dr. Luther leapt at
the nearest Black Templer skewering the marine before he even had that chance
to react. Stormwolf and his buddy decided to stand back a bit and watch what
happens next…. Only to have two Black Templars rush over looking for a fight.
In the next couple of minutes his buddy was taken down and the Templar’s lost
two men, one of them their leader. As for Dr Luther, there was a Black Templar
with a heavy bolter standing right in his path, surely he would not survive
this. But he did and promptly jumped on the Templar and took him down…..
What was going on, he was supposed to be hiding. Then found a third Templar
whom he also took down. This guy is supposed to be hiding!
Meanwhile Harkon the human shield and his brother Frode were dancing
around the Dreadnaught trying to take it down with Krak grenades and to
everyone’s surprise they did. They look a little bored until they saw Dr Luther
coming over to investigate what had happened to the Dreadnaught. He was
promptly cut down by Harkon the human shield and Frode. Mission accomplished.
The Head Injured, human shield was the Hero of the day!!
Back over the other side of the table, Faizal Stormwolf crept around
the corner and saw a trail of dead Templars, slowly he crept past each one
until he reached the corner and came face to face with the two remaining
Templars. They must have thought that he was responsible and regardless of how
he surged his shoulders and said “not me” they still beat him up.
It has to have been one of the best games in quite some time – so many
double 1s were rolled it was ridiculous, and Faizal even rolled on the floor at
one point. Shukor was of course his calm self and Subhan, clearly does not like
the idea of hiding….. Great game guys and thanks.

If you haven't tried this game then you're missing out on something very exciting. Did i mention that the terrain he built specifically for the campaign are gorgeous....nope? RSVP Thread- Kill Teams and Birthday Bash Info
Legio Malaysia Birthday Bash
Believe it or not it's that time of the year again. Saturday, May 18th we will be holding Legio Malaysia's FIFTH Birthday Bash! Woo Hoo!!
In general to the overall happiness, delirium, and capering about, there are two main events on the offer for the Birthday Bash- Kindred IV and Golden Kris.
Kindred IV
And yeah, believe it or not this year will mark the 4th year in a row that we've run the Kindred event. Speaking for Arzmi and myself, never in a million years did we ever foresee this. And speaking for Arzmi and myself, we owe it all to you hensem guys who have been supporting us since K1 by taking part. Thank you so much everyone!
And as a sign of appreciation from both of us for your continuous support we've managed to plead and beg and grovel our t-shirt supplier to still accept our orders even though we're running out of time to print them.
So if you still want that free limited edition K4 t-shirt please grab your partners and register before April 12th.
This will be one installment of Kinderd you will not want to miss.
(Khairul Effendy)
Golden Kris V
Our May 18th Birthday Bash will feature the fifth (!) iteration of our yearly 'Golden Kris' painting contest. To mark the occasion appropriately, Legio Malaysia commissioned local sculptor Jarold Sng to sculpt our very own Golden Kris Statuette. This statue, pictured in the Golden Kris banner at the top of the page, will be cast and prepared in Gold, Silver, and Bronze schemes for all Golden Kris categories. This means there will be TWELVE of these fantastic statuettes available to win, making this year's contest a 'can't miss' on every serious painter's calendar. This year will feature the following categories:
SINGLE MODEL
Entries may include any single 25-35mm scale model mounted on a base no larger than 40mm round/square. Cavalry/bike models are also entered into this category. Smaller scale entries, such as for games like Flames of War or Dropzone Commander, may also be entered in this category. For these, one stand of infantry (typically two to five models) or one vehicle may be entered.
LARGE MODEL
Entries may include any single 25-35mm scale model normally mounted on a base larger than 40mm round/square or unbased like a vehicle.
UNIT
Entries must consist of a 25-35mm scale game legal unit of at least five models and no more than twenty. Smaller scale entries, for games such as Flames of War or Dropzone Commander, may be entered into this category. The five model/stand minimum rule applies here as well.
SPECIAL CATEGORY: DUEL
This year's 'Wild Card' category is 'Duel'. Entries need to show two 25-35mm scale models in combat with each other, mounted on a base no larger than 5" x 5". This is a diorama, and as such game legal casing for the models is NOT required.
OVERALL CONTEST RULES SUMMARY
All entries must be 100% built and painted by the person entering the model. Entrants must enter their own models and be physically present at the awards ceremony to claim their prize(s). If an entrant is not present at that time, the next highest scored model will take the prize in question. The awards ceremony will take place immediately after awards are given out for the Kindred IV 40K Legio Hobby Tournament.
Any display bases must be reasonably sized to allow room for all entrants, preferably painted/modeled to match the models being displayed on them. Motorized/lighted/gimmicky display bases are not permitted. If you have any questions about your base you may contact Legio Malaysia directly via email, through our Facebook page, or in person at any of our Hobby Nights.
KILL TEAMS RECAP- MORE PLAYTESTING FRIDAY NIGHT!
Kill zone in the factory and snipers in the rose bushes. Recap by Mark Smith
This week we had tables set up with two very different themes – one a mechanical factory floor and the other a tranquil, relaxing, sweet smelling garden scene. A serene paradise that only the Eldar could truly appreciate....that was until it was ruined by the crushing boots of power armour trampling all over the flowers!!
The attackers had two objectives this week; one was to upload a computer virus on computer terminals and to assassinate an Alien Spy hiding among the defenders team.
In the factory the first fight was between the Blood Angels and the Dark Angels. The Dark Angels bravely prepared to valiantly protect the Alien Spy, sheltering behind a stack of crates, even prepared to use their own bodies as shields to protect the important alien... who got blasted away by rapid fire!! Then they had to deal with swift moving Blood Angels outflanking on the left side. A win for the Blood Angels.
The Death Korps or Krieg were up next. Led by the confident and charismatic Lieutenant Moller the Korp’s job was to protect the Alien against the Dark Angels. They boldly deployed with the Alien protected by a combination of crates and bodies. This time the Dark Angels stood back and mercifully poured plasma bursts onto the ill-fated Death Korps, with one of the blasts drifting on to the poor Alien. Instantly he was fried in plasma. Suddenly a tightly huddled group of six marines made a break for a computer terminal on the right flank, only to be surprised by a single, flamer armed, defender stepping around the corner. The defender must have thought it was his lucky day, hitting all six marines.... and injuring none!!! It wasn’t his lucky day, all six marines ganged up on the doomed Death Korp. The centre of the table had become a cruel kill zone.
Meanwhile, over in the garden the Eldar were mad about their afternoon picnic on the grass being disturbed, first by Black Templers and then by Blood Angels. Rangers armed with sniper rifles showed the Black Templers the true meaning of accurate fire from well hidden vantage points. They also quickly moved their Alien Spy out of the danger zone and successful protected a computer terminal, while cutting down the ill-fated Templers.
However, they hardly had time to rest before they realised that a team of Blood Angels were in the same garden. The Angels had their own Alien spy, which the Eldar endeavoured to execute, but the Angels and the spy quickly took up cover behind some walls and away from the sneaky snipers. The Eldar Fire Dragon unleashed retribution on the wall, creating a hole big enough to pass through, however before he could take advantage of this he was vicious jumped by a hooligan Blood Angel. The lengthy fight was even joined by a nimble sandwich filled Harlequin.... who was promptly beaten by the Blood Angel. A protected Alien Spy, a secure computer and a second win for the Angels!
This Friday the mission has a music connection....Pink Floyd and the Doors. Come and join !!
RSVP here for tomorrow's Hobby Night. Take care folks.

Hobby Night March 29th, 2013 : A Night of Winners
First of all, a huge congratulation to Subhan, for being crowned the Legio Malaysia 40K League 4 Champion. Subhan's necron force managed to swept all before him with such impunity and fanaticism that he even bagged the League Fanatic award . This well deserved victory earned him his first ever Legio Purity Seal. Well done good sir!
Best Painted for the League as voted by his peers went to Faizal Sani for his beautifully painted Space Wolves army.
Best Sportsmanship, also as voted by his peers went to Mr. Mark, nice guy, Smith. Mark placed third in the final league standing. Being voted best sportsman speaks volume to his approach of this game that we all love.
Congratulations to all the winners. And thank you to everyone who took part in the League.
Last Friday was also the Fast Attack throwdown. After all the votes were tallied, Faizal Azlan came out tops with his amazingly painted Nurgle Blight Drone. Other than the obviously astonishing paintjob, his effort in constructing a cinematic base was probably the deciding factor in attracting votes, slightly edging Goh's Night Lords Heldrake.
And here are the rest of the Fast Attack Throwdown participants.
2nd Place - Night Lords Heldrake
3rd Place - Eldar Vyper
Dark Eldar Reaver Jetbike
IG Vendetta
Well done and a very big thank you to all the participants for finishing and entering their Fast Attack choice. Inspiring work and magnificent dedication. You are all winners to us :)
The Kill Team playtesting games were also in progress. Stay tuned for battle reports by Mark Smith, coming soon on Legio Malaysia.
Ave Legio!

Snipers, grenades and exploding oil drums!
Last Friday was the first play test of the kill team rules, and what a night!! The plan was to simply just play test the rules; however we ended playing 5 games, lobbing grenades at each other, blow up six oil drums and hold a three player game by the end of the evening.
Kill team is designed to be a Special Ops game where players can field small teams and play mission based around fun and creative scenarios. Due to the game being based around small Ops teams, multiple players can field teams. This makes it easy to join, needing only a few models for a team and fun to play against more than one player.
Teams can also use special war gear and various skills. For example, you can use smoke grenades to cover your tactical movement, take suspensors for your heavy weapon's team member giving him Relentless or give your sneakly sniper the Crack shot skill.
So what were some of the highlights of last week's test games?
A marine armed with heavy bolter chasing the opposition down corridors, just lika a young Bruce Willis. The same HB marine in a mexican standoff with a marine armed with a sniper rifle( the sniper won because the HB marine ran off...unlike Bruce Willis!!)
And Shukor blowing up the oil drum objectives twice!!! Followed by him taking out the power generator resulting in the game going into night fight mode!!
Play test 2 will be held this Friday, so who wants to join? We are looking for more players to bring their action Heroes to the table!!
